Remote Access

Hi There,

We have a head office which has two terminal servers in. We have several

remote sites which have Windows XP clients in. We want to impliment a system

whereby when people logon to the workstations it automatically connects to

the Terminal Server and when they log off the Terminal server it

automatically logs them off the workstation. If an administrator logs on

however they need to be able to log on locally without the terminal server

connection. I know dumb terminals could be used for this but we don't want

to replace the existing hardware. Is this something which can be done?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

David.

RE: Remote Access

There is a version of Windows XP SP2 called Windows Fundamentals for Legacy

PCs that can be installed in a mode that turns the PC into a thin client,

i.e. it only connects to a terminal server. This is available for download

if you have Software Assurance for your Windows XP machines.

Alternatively you could replace the Windows XP OS with a Linux Thin Client

OS like ThinStation, PXES, 2X ThinClient Server or WTware.
