Network Error and an unknown Error Code

Recommended Posts

I have a range of servers reporting a large amounts of the following Warning

in the event log: "While transmitting or receiving data, the server

encountered a network error. Occasional errors are expected but large

amounts of these indicate a possible error in your network configuration.

The error status code is contained with the returned data and may point you

towards the problem."

The event ID is 2012, the source is Srv, and the error code (last word

contained within the Data) is 0000097a.

I have checked the obvious things like drivers, firmware, ip and dns

settings. I've rebooted boxes, rebooted switches, taken perfmon readings

(nothing unusual) and not got to the bottom of the issue. And to make

matters even more confusing, there doesn't seem to be a

record/description/explaination of error code 0000097a anywhere.

So my query is: Can anyone tell me what is happening here? Or failing

that, can anyone tell me what the error code means or relates to?

Cheers in advance

RE: Network Error and an unknown Error Code

Hi Jonty,

Have you considered that it might be a hardware issue with the NIC? Is

this on more than one server?
