Hardware Requirements

I am installing a new server for a client. They will be running Server 2003

R2, Exchange 2007 and SQL Server 2005. They have 15 users for the server and

Exchange and only have 10-users in SQL. I know Microsoft recommends a

separate server for Exchange and SQL, but my Dell reps thinks it should run

fine because of the small number of users. The specs on the server are a

quad-core Xeon, 4GB of RAM, 2-76GB SCSI drives mirrored for the OS and a SCSI

RAID 5 array for the data. Do you think we will have any problems running

all the software on that box??

thanks.

RE: Hardware Requirements

Hi Eric,

Is there a reason you are not using SBS Premium as that includes all of

these product in a configuration that is designed to be run on a single

server. The licensing costs will be significantly lower as well.

Why not just order SBS 2003 R2 Premium edition and you'll get Exchange

2003 and SQL on it, and it's a LOT cheaper, and it's designed to run on

a Single Server.

With the exception of SBS, I never run Exchange and SQL on the same box,

they both want to hold all of the memory for themselves.
