Looking for recomendation for book to learn Powershell

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a book about using Powershell on a Windows 2003 A/D system.

I'll be initially using it in an Exchange 2007 environment at first , but I

would like to be able to use it for non-Exchange tasks. I've been a Windows

admin since Win 3.1/DOS days, and I've done a little VBScript, and have some

programming background, so I'm not starting totally at the beginning. I've

been to the "Updating your Exchange 2003 skills to 2007", so I have done a

little with the Exchange command shell, too.

I did some general internet searching, and have seen a lot of different

books, but at $40-$50 each, I'd like to get some recommendations before I

buy one.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Re: Looking for recomendation for book to learn Powershell

Thank you for the links. I downloaded the book it and looked at it, it

looks perfect to get started with, along with the Documentation Pack and the

other files from Microsoft.

Any suggestions beyond those? I know there's a lot of Powershell books

from the different publishers, and was wondering if there's any suggestions

on them?

Re: Looking for recomendation for book to learn Powershell

I'm certainly going to recommend my own book Windows PowerShell v1.0: TFM

2nd Ed as one to add to your shelf. You can learn more about the title and

get a sample chapter at http://www.sapienpress.com/powershell2.asp.

I'd also recommend the Windows PowerShell Cookbook.
