DVD Drive not working

I am unable to do a back up because when I put in a DVD or CD, my PC just ejects it. Today I copied some files onto a CD from another PC and when I tried to open it on my original PC, it didn;t show any files on it. This sounds like to the DVD drive has packed up. Can anyone advise please?:confused:

Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

Have you looked in Device management?

If not, click "Start" then Run, type in or copy and paste-

 

devmgmt.msc

 

then click OK or Enter.

Scroll down the list to DVD/CD-ROM Drives, click the plus sign on the left, are thwere any red or yellow marks next to them?

Let us know what you find there please.
