Switching MPS Multiprocessor to ACPI

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have Windows 2000 server running as a virtual machine and device manager

is showing the computer device running ACPI Multiprocessor and everything

works fine. A nearly identical Windows 2000 server is running in

identical virtual machine but device manager is showing the computer device

running MPS Uniprocessor. Any time I attempt to upgrade the device driver

to run ACPI, the system blue screens on the next reboot.

What is the trick to convert from MPS to ACPI assuming you are starting off

with Windows 2000 running MPS?
