Dear All,

This is not a technical glitch as such, more organisation. I have two pcs. My main pc (desktop) and my laptop.

I spend alot of time away from home with my laptop, in this time i will write documents and download music etc. When i come home, my desktop is (out of date) because all of these new files will be on the laptop. similarly, if i do something on my deskop, i want to be able to show people on my laptop, but this data is on my home pc.

Is there software that will let me duplicate or backup my files so both computers are the same?

I don't want to have to mess around with a USB stick, transferring files because that is a bore.

Any suggestions?

Hi James, you could connect the two together in a network and copy files over that way, or there are a few bits of hardware around known as file transfer cables, and have a box in the middle but connect both computers via USB.

Have a look here for a cable-

2 metre USB Data/File Transfer Cable: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

And that is only one outlet, there are many and you may even pick one up locally in a nearby computer retailer.

PS, I use one and they are good. Also look around for this Belkin one Belkin : USB 2.0 File Transfer Cable

As you are using Vista, you could use the inbuilt Groove utility

About file sharing workspaces

A file sharing workspace is a special type of Groove workspace that enables you to share the contents of a folder in your Windows file system across all computers on which you have your Groove account, and with other Groove users by invitation.

Note: File sharing workspaces are not supported on computers running a 64-bit operating system.

When you invite people to join a file sharing workspace, they select a folder for sharing on their computers. All members of a file sharing workspace have access to its contents (files and subfolders).
