I am sure at my age I do not throw my mobile phones around.

I am sure I do not dunk them in water.

I wanted sensible answers for myself and for others to learn from.

Not childish nonsence.

You appear to break a lot of phones are you sure it is not your fault not a manufacturer fault?

Hi Jelly Bean,

I have a work one of these and yes they are very good, but so are all blackberrys, depending on who you get your contract with the ability to send and receive emails can cost you as much as £50 on TOP of your contract so make sure you get that sorted first :)

There are lots of apps and in terms of a smart phone it is comparible to the Iphone and the HTC Hero

Thankyou Dalo it arrived today.

I found the disk supplied is only for information and a manual, all software needs to be downloaded.A bit of a pain as there appears a lot you can do with the smartphone.

I paid some subscription so my emails can be downloaded.

T-Moble seemed the cheapest option on contract,02 boltons pushed the price way up.

My eyesite is terrible so a little hard to read the screen, but seems ok so far.

Ordered a better case for it to protect it better than the small supplied one were the phone pushes into it and is a little difficult to remove.

The case it comes with is for more than protecting the phone.

You can set profiles depending on whether the phone is in the case or outside of it and it saves your battery power, there is a magnet in the case and if you look on the back of the phone there are some copper terminals.

It basically reduces the functions of the phone while it is in the case in order to save power.

These can be amended in the profile section

I checked here in OZ about Contracts, and they are available if you take out a Business Contract, and pretty costly per Month.

So clearly this Phone is designed for the Corporate World, and I fail to see how the stay at home Mum and Dad,could possibly benefit from,or have need for all the features, this Phone has.

I think the Pose factor could be a reason, the Average Joe,would have one of these.

In Business,Yes,most definately.:)

I use it with my servers as I can access them through it while out and about so to speak rather than using a lappy.

It also allows you to send/receive emails where there is no wireless.

It is aimed more at the corporate market, but it has the same functions of an Iphone

Sorry if I'm off topic in this off topic thread. :):)

Can you believe I never owned a cell phone of any type?

I was twenty five years old and still had a rotary dial phone.

I finally got a "wireless" phone ten years ago. :p

Yes that's right. I'm old enough to remember when NBC first started broacasting TV in color.

And now you know why I don't answer questions on topics such as this.

Sorry but I thought you all might like a good laugh at my expense. :)

I go along with you Randy, I also refuse to have anything to do with a mobile phone of any type, no matter what functions it has. If friends need to get in touch there is the landline, E Mail, MSN Messenger, or even knocking on my door.

I would hate the idea that while I am out and about that some twerp of a friend could ring me on my mobile and therefore interrupt something that may be important to me.

OK you can switch them off, in my case it would never be on. :)

I may be old Fashioned,in my thinking, but I fail to see how all these modern Electronic Gadgets, are really warranted.

To be seen with the latest model, all the time, must be costly.

Two years ago I had a friend visit me from another State.

He was here in Sydney, visiting friends and Relations for 3 days.

We spent 1 hr (Sunday) chatting over Coffee, and during that 1 hr he spent half that time,

speaking into some chordless Contraption in his ear,and had something like a touch screen he was pressing with what looked like a pencil.(Dont know what you call them)

He is a businessman, and I thought it extremely rude, not to turn it off for that short time, we were in conversation.

Must have been interrupted, a dozen times.

I can surely live without all these Whizz Bang Gadgets.

I am 65 yrs and certainly Old Fashioned,as it was Only 3 yrs ago, that I decided to get a Goggle Box.(Computer)

End of Rant.:D

So clearly this Phone is designed for the Corporate World, and I fail to see how the stay at home Mum and Dad,could possibly benefit from,or have need for all the features, this Phone has.

I am most certainly not a stay at home mom.

I do local computer repairs.

I teach computer classes.

I work up the local Dropin Center as a volunteer.

I also am a private tutor belive it or not.

I was also a carer to my elderly neigbour who recently passed away.

I also take care of my child, cook, proper food not microwave rubbish, clean.

Due to working up the local Drop In Center my work from there carries with me home to written work, finding information and neigbours stopping me in the street or knocking my door for information on benefits, housing, debt and so on.

Hence can I also add I am disabled with Multiple sclerosis,Ostioarthritis(excuse spelling).Yet I still manage to smile through the pain and help others in most areas this help is given totaly free.

So is this phone any good for this stay at home mom as you put it?

Yes it is well worth this lazy claim benefits/disabled mom having this phone.

Let me see now?

What do I use the phone for?

Making calls,text messages.

Oh FaceBook,Myspace,MSN,Yahoo,I can check on the forum were ever I go,surf internet.

As I do computer repairs I usaly have to take with me a netbook, tool kit, body glove full of diffrent disks,my USB pen drives are always with me ready for those who stop me in the street and ask for a little bit of help.

Hopefully I can connect to a persons internet via netbook if not I can use BlackBerry phone.

It is cheaper for me to have the Blackberry with 700 mins free and 400 text messages free then in January I am going back to Virginmedia as Sky and BT combined is costing me an arm and a leg.

The Blackberry with free calls and Virginmedia will work out cheaper. With all my free calls I can now make to my local customers is an excellent choice.

So what use is my BlackBerry?I use it to make money.

I also repair computers over MSN and Yahoo. No more friends waiting untill I arrive home to help them,I can help them on the go.

FaceBook often is used for friends and neigbours to send me a PM requesting help and when can I call up or they pop down for a computer fix.

I can connect via WIFI or internet.

I have to say the internet on this phone is excellent speed.

It also has word and excell on it.Which comes in handy to type up the minutes from our meetings up the Dropin Center.

To save money you need to find the better cheaper options.

To make money sometimes you have to spend a little of your own.

Everytime someone needs me my phone makes a beep and I can check ASAP who needs me.

It is more than just a mobile phone.

For those like me who at times lead a very busy life it appears one of the best purchases I have made along with my self build computer and my Samsung NC10 netbook.

It is not just used for me to make money on computer help given by me but also I have people who message me for usefull links, hence now again they do not have to wait for help I can send in seconds.

Shall I go on and on on how good and usefull this phone is and I only had it a few days?

Think of it this way?

Can you imagine putting your computer and mobile phone all in your pocket with internet access?

Well you can with the Blackberry phone.

I is loving it.

Great stuff JB, and that is the benefit of a mobile phone.

If my boss was prepared to shell out and buy one for me for work related use, or if I left his company and went self employed I would certainly need one.

But for private and domestic use, I only need the old pair of wires coming into the house. I tend to think that the general air headed use you see on the street as being a waste of time, and in my case an imposition on my privacy and peaceful and quiet existence.

hence why I don't want one.:D

Hi JB.I wasn't poking the finger at you.

I still stand by what I said.

I fail the see the benefit of one of these for the stay at home Mum and Dad.

Read the last Line. "IN BUSINESS YES MOST DEFINATELY"

You are in business,JB. Great, you will get benefit from it.

Sorry if you thought I was implying YOU didn't need one.:)

I totaly agree of the general user of a mobile phone it realy is a waste to have the BlackBerry.

I just sold my old phone which was two years old but was in mint condition and I had all the cables/disks/headset ect still.I just sold it for £50-00,pay as you go.

I am not a user of a mobile phone, the phone I just sold I put £15-00 in it and it lasted over a year.

I again agree the general user of a mobile phone is a pain in the bottom big time, the music from them sounds tinny yet why do they not use the supplied headset? They tend to shout down the phone to there mates, constant beeps from receiving text messages.

I think it makes a pleasent change when my phone vibrates on the bus and I answer it in a pleasent manner and give a computer fix over the phone in a normal tone of voice.Instead of the screams of I am on the bus now I will be there in ten.Plus not just from youngsters the potty words screamed and shouted out in a convo?
