Guest Ick Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I need to replace a server with a different domain name. When I do this, I have to go to every pc and re-join the new domain, thus loosing all of my current settings, favorites, email, etc. Is there a utility that I can use that would backup all of these settings so that I can restore them to the new desktop after I join the new domain? Eric

I have to ask why you can't just set up a new server in your existing domain - move whatever roles you need to the new server - and then retire the old one. Unless your old DC is dead (in which case I'd suggest restoring from backup first).

Please re-read what I wrote - there are some questions embedded in there.
Guest net_admin Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 RE: Joining new domain without loosing current desktop settings When you say 'replace with a # domain name' I will consider moving from one domain to the other.
