danzil Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 can you boot into xp at all.do you have a full working,up and running copy of windows. if so plug it back in a reformet it.to fat32 or ntfs...... sorry I am unable to access it in windows? duuurgh, didnt read that bit.. when it is plugged in can you see it in disk management. right click my comp>manage>disk management. if so you can format it in there..... if not can you download a win98 boot floppy, you can boot from that and fdisk it and reformat it to fat32,then in xp to ntfs... is there data on it... more info would be great im sure we can sort this out., regards danzil Quote Windows 10 Pro x64Aqua Jeantech Gaming case550watt psu.MSI Gaming Board32GB DDR3 Corsair gaming RamGenuine Intel i7 3.2Ghz4 x 24x dvdrw 150GB SSD750GB Hybrid Drive256 RAID PCI/E SSD for OSand loads of other bits i really dont need :D
sharpy Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 hi i can access xp, the external hard drive does not show up in my computer. I go to disk mangement and its in there but does only give the properties and help options. There is about 64gb of personal gear on there. It says the external drive has eisa configuration. The same as the factory recovery partition on the hard drive. I contacted the pc manufacturer and they said when i reinstalled xp the external drive was also re-configured because it was left connected. They said that the eisa partition cannot be accessed through xp, because it is being treated as a hidden system partition. Quote
danzil Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 rubbish. you can access this partition using recovery software......try ontrack.... there are some freeware tools also... recover what you need then format it back to fat32 or ntfs. if i can help anymore please ask. regards danzil Quote Windows 10 Pro x64Aqua Jeantech Gaming case550watt psu.MSI Gaming Board32GB DDR3 Corsair gaming RamGenuine Intel i7 3.2Ghz4 x 24x dvdrw 150GB SSD750GB Hybrid Drive256 RAID PCI/E SSD for OSand loads of other bits i really dont need :D
