House Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Hi, I recently got a new graphics card but whilst trying to install it I discovered it wouldn't fit into the slot properly. The problem is that because the new card is slightly bigger it is pressing up against the motherboard before reaching the slot. I did a quick search for an adaptor/riser but I'm not sure what to go for. I'm also worried that if I extend the slot too far away from the motherboard, the side of the card will not fit into the space at the back of the case properly (where the monitor sockets are). I just wondered if anyone had any experiences with such a problem or could give some advice on what to do. Thanks for your time. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Hello house. Could you post make and model of your mother board and what graphics card you bought please? I am a little unsure of what you are trying to say.Do you mean the GPU will not slot in as the card seems a little tight on the back of the case? Or it simply will not fit the slot? House Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Hi, Sorry if I was unclear. I'm not sure what make my motherboard is at the moment but the graphics card is a GeForce GTS 250. The card and motherboard are compatible... the problem is that the card simply won't reach the slot. The body of the graphics card is pressing against the motherboard before the actual connector reaches the PCI slot. This card is slightly bigger than my previous GeForce 8800 and it is pressing against some stuff on the motherboard, preventing me from slotting it in. If there was any way to extend the PCI slot away from the motherboard by just 1-2 centimetres it would fit. Also I am worried that if I managed to do that I would have a new problem of the monitor sockets etc not fitting in the gap at the back of the case. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 There is no adaptor. What make and model is your computer then that may help us help you. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
