Just now i have USB speakers and when i plug in the headphones the speakers still work.

I have to go into playback devices and change the default to speaker/headphones.

Hi

I think because the speakers are USB and the headphones usees the sound card, both will play, so you have to change to which one you want.

If the speakers and headphones both used the sound card then it should switch automatically when you plug the one in or out.

Maynard is correct, for auto sensing to switch off the speakers when a headphone is plugged in, the speakers need to be plugged into the speaker out jack, not USB on most sound cards.
