The motherboard of my desktop is ASUS A7N8X Deluxe. I currently have

2 PATA drive, where the primary drive has 2 partition and had XP Pro

installed initially. The other PATA is data drive.

Last night, I installed windows server 2033 in the second other

partition of the primary drive where XP pro exist.

Can anyone guide me step-by-step approach to establish internet

connection? I do have all the drivers for the motherboard downloaded

and saved in my data drive.

BTW, this desktop is physically connected to the wireless router

(linksys) and does not have wireless network card. \

Oh, I just checked the list under "Network Connections" - I am

currently logged in via XP Pro - and see 3 things as shown below:

(1) Name:1394 Connection Type: LAN or High-speed Internet

Status:Disabled Device Name: 1394 Net Adapter

(2) Name:Local Area Connection Type: LAN or High-speed Internet

Status:Network cable unplugged Device Name: 3Com3C920B-EMB Integrated

Fast Ethernet Controller

(3) Name:Local Area Connection4 Type: LAN or High-speed Internet

Status:Connected Device Name: NVIDIA nForce Networking Adapter

You don't give enough data to help.

Are you trying to access via a modem or high-speed broadband

connection?

If a modem, have you set up dial up networking?

If a broadband connection, are you connected directly to your

cable/dsl modem or through a router? Are you on static IP or DHCP?

If DHCP, is it provided from the server software or the hardware

router?

You might as well just have said "my computer is broken please make it

work" what with the LACK of details you are provding here!

Re: Help me get connected to Internet

I got the driver for 3Com3C920B-EMB Integrated Fast Ethernet

Controller installed and now Internet conenction is established. I

wasn't conencting tthough this network card when using XP pro, i.e. I

had to connect my cable from th roiuter to the port for 3Com3C920B-EMB

Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller from .

I am unable to locate driver (among the drivers I have for my

motherboad) for NVIDIA nForce Networking Adapter. I guess, I'll have

to got to NViDIA website once I find out the model I have.

The other things I am not able to install the drivers (by pointing to

the folder of drvers I have for the mmotherboard) for are

- Multimedia Audio Controller

- SM Bus controller.

Are these two not a part of MB? If so, why are the drivers not

installed?
