loging off users

Recommended Posts

i have 2 terminal servers and found out that users never really log off -

they just close the session.

Question is there a setting where users can be auto logoff after a time on

inactivity?

Also, can I disable the "Shut Down" or "Restart" windows choices for certain

users?

I have Windows 2003 terminal servers

Thanks,

Re: loging off users

You can configure a time limit for idle sessions and configure them

to automatically disconnect or reset.

This can be done in Terminal Services Configuration, or (better) in

a Group Policy:

Computer Configuration - Administrative templates - Windows

Components - Terminal Services - Sessions

"Set time limit for disconnected sessions"

"Sets a time limit for active Terminal Services sessions"

"Sets a time limit for active but idle Terminal Services sessions"

"Terminate session when time limits are reached"

RE: loging off users

I can help you with the session reset. In TS configuration click connections

and right click the RDP>properties>sessions tab. Check Overide user settings

and set a time for the session to reset.
