In a standard Win98 configuration, if this file is not found at boot Windows creates a new (empty) one. We do not need to port this file from one PC to another. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada)

Guest Bill in Co. Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Re: win386.swp Why move it? Why not just delete it (in DOS), and let it rebuild itself. Guest Bill in Co. Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Re: win386.swp Depends on what you have set up for the swap file configuration. That is, are you allowing windows to manage it (as is normal) - or not (if you changed its settings, for example). Normally, if windows is managing the swap file, it should be in c:\windows directory, otherwise it may be in the root folder (IIRC).
