WSUS Question after transferring to new server (Master or Upstream

Recommended Posts

I successfully set up a new Master server and now have my replicas sync'ing

successfully after I ran through the export/import process of transferring

the WSUS content from my original Master to my new one. However, there is one

slight issue. When I log into the new Master/Upstream server, it basically

says all updates need to be approved for installations, rather than where I

had left off before the switch. Even if I do a sort for the last 2 months, it

still brings up all the updates (going back years), which are like 1100+

updates. Is there any way to import the approval information from my

original master server to the new one so it knows that I have installed these

past updates, or is there another way to fix or clean up the database? Or is

it a matter of declining all the updates that I have previously installed? Or

do I need to approve them all again to see if they need to be installed? It's

just a lot of updates to go through and I'm not sure the best way to go about

this... Any suggestions?

Thank you so much!

RE: WSUS Question after transferring to new server (Master or Upstream

I want to add that I'm using WSUS 2.0, sp1. Would WSUS 3.0 be able to fix my

problems and is it easy to migrate my master server and my 2 replicas? Looks

like there are some database cleanup utilities with 3.0...for now though, if

people DO know how to fix this in 2.0, I'd appreciate it! :)

Re: WSUS Question after transferring to new server (Master or Upst

Thanks - I was thinking there was one for WSUS, but I couldn't find how to

get there and it's not in the drop-down list...do you have a direct link to

it??

Re: WSUS Question after transferring to new server (Master or Upst

Meinolf - how do I add Microsoft's newsgroups to JetBrains Omea Reader? What

is the server name supposed to be? This program seems pretty slick!

Thanks! :)
