[W2003] 120-day limit expired

Hello

On a spare PC that runs W2003, the 120-day grace period for Terminal

Services expired, so I can no longer connect to it with RDP. Since

this is seldom used, I don't need user accounts on this thing, and can

just as well connect as admin.

I seem to recall W2003 offers two free admin connections, so I

wouldn't need to buy TS CAL's. Can someone tell me

1) if it's possible to downgrade to this two-connection configuration

2) how to do it, in newbies terms (not a Windows expert)

Thank you.

Sure.

You should still be able to connect to the console session of the

server, since the console session never requires a TS CAL. Connect

by typing "mstsc /console" (without the quotes) in a command window

on your client.

To return to Remote Desktop for Administration (with the 2 free

connections), you have to uninstall Terminal Services. That's done

in Control Panel - Add/Remove programs - Add/Remove Windows

components.

It will need a restart of the server. Before you reboot, make sure

that Remote Desktop for Administration is still enabled, in Control

Panel - System - Remote.
