snow Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Hi jacamo, What happens when it fails to boot? Are there any errors that appear? Do you know what changed in order to cause this? jacamo Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Hi jacamo, What happens when it fails to boot? Are there any errors that appear? Do you know what changed in order to cause this? No there are no error messages,I suppose if i left it alone it would boot after some time had gone by like I usually switch it on in a morning and sometimes go make myself a cuppa and as i return with my tea it is loading so it takes ten mins or so to boot.most times i get fed up off waiting I press f8 for boot menu and boot that way and that takes sometime to work too.and sorry I have no idea why this is happening "no just cause I know off"I have defragged scan for trojans malware and viruses = nothing .It's baffling me . snow Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 It sounds like something is timing out during boot. How many hard disks do you have in the computer? You could try re-setting the BIOS to defaults. You should be able to get into it by pressing 'F2' or similar during boot up. There should be an option inside to load the default configuration. jacamo Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 I have tried resetting bios to default and have updated the bios to the latest one, still same it takes forever to boot, only one sata hardrive and its only 3 month old Quote
snow Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 If nothing has changed, and your BIOS is at the same defaults it was using before, then the BIOS must not be the problem. Do you have anything connected to the computer during boot up, like printers, or USB devices? Try unplugging these and re-starting, to make sure nothing is delaying bootup with discovery timouts.
