Guest Tom Randolph Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I have a freshly loaded Server 2003 R2 STD server. I downloaded System Center Virtual Machine Manager. When I try to run the executable that I downloaded, It tells me "Windows Cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I have looked at the threads about trusted sites, it did not help. I have downloaded the file from Microsoft onto the machine and had to unblock the file, did not help. I downloaded the file to an Vista workstation and it will execute there. I copied the file from the Vista workstation, but it will not work on 2003. I added the Vista machine UNC to trusted sites and copied form the machine, still does not open. I uninstalled the IE Enhanced security and re-downloaded, no fix. I'm at a loss.
Guest hemp Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 RE: Unable to execute .exe file Did you try the DEP settings under system properties/advanced/performance/data execution protection tab. Add the .exe file "Tom Randolph" wrote: > I have a freshly loaded Server 2003 R2 STD server. I downloaded System Center > Virtual Machine Manager.
