Hello tech world,

Here is the scenario. I have my working site that has my 2 domain

controllers. I have 2 more domain controllers in my disaster recovery site

that mirror my working site just incase something happens in my working site.

how do I configure dns on my disaster recovery site so that it can work with

my working site for contineus replication just incase my working site falls?

Most appreciative,

Is your disaster recovery site in the same domain as the working site?

How are you currently mirroring DNS to your disaster recovery site?

no its not. the disaster recovery site is located in a different location.

we have a vpn tunnel to the dr site and back.

If the disaster recovery servers are not in the same domain, you can create

traditional secondary DNS zones that obtain their content from the working

site AD servers. The working site AD DNS zones will have to be configured to

allow zone transfers to the disaster recovery servers.

But, if these server are truly for disaster recovery, why are they not in

the same AD domain? They would then be already synced up and ready to go.

RE: configuring dns in a disaster recovery site.

In my working site I have srv1.domain.com and srv2.domain.com. In the dr

site I have drsrv1.domain.com and drsrv2.domain.com. All of my domain

controllers in my working and dr site are all catalog servers and also are

running dns. I just want to know how to setup my dr servers in regards to

ips. On the dns section of the tcpip settings? should I add the dns servers

of my working site as primary? and secondary dns's? or should I just add the

dns from my dr site as primary and secondary and leave the rest as 3rd and

4th dns's?
