TheBigGeeUK Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I noticed that some of the books I'm looking at getting to study for an MCSA/MCSE come with a 180 day trial version of Server 2003/2008. Now I know I can install it as a dual boot on my main pc with Vista, but my question is this: Can I use my Vista Laptop as a client? I know I can in somehow but do I have a dual boot vista system on it, one as an independent system (nothing to do with the server) and the other as a client to the server? I want to try and get my head around this before I start forking out money, as I want to be able to have a home server/client network to aid me in studying. I hereby await what will probably be a simple answer that I should have thought of! Gee Quote
snow Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by 'client' exactly: any computer should be able to interact with a server. If you install and run windows server on your main PC, any other computers you have will be able to access any services you start on it. You don't need to specially set up a computer as a client, or 'associate' it with the server in any way. Just point a web browser to it if it's running a web server, or explorer if it's running file shares, etc. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help.
