Hi John,

This message is usually generated when the fan on your computer's CPU is disconnected or not working.

Turn off the computer, take the side off the case so you can look inside it, and then turn it back on. Look at each of the fans to see if any aren't turning like they should be.

I agree with snow. Look at your fans at startup.

I had that error too for a while but it went away before it came back. I couldn't see any fans not working until the problem came back and more often too.

In my situation it turned out to be the case fan. It would start just fine and then shut off for one second before it started running again. So look closely.

Hi John. The point is that it could be any fan. Even the PCU or Power supply fan. Like I said the fault may not be evident at this time but is likely to become more so in due time. Keep an eye on it as some time in the future it might get worse. You'll know it when happens and can replace it then.

Hi,

As you've checked inside your system and made sure your CPU fan spins, and you don't have an internal case fan there is only one other possibility.

You must have changed a BIOS setting that monitors the fans and warns you when one isn't spinning.

Have a look in the BIOS - its probably a setting in Hardware Monitor - don't change any to do with the CPU fan, only case fans. That should do it!
