Network (hardware and software) discovery

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'd like to use any "smart" program to discover my computers on the network

and get some reports. Everest Professional is very nice product but I need

to run it on EVERY computer. I've checked LOGinventory and similar

products...

Well, my idea is: I have 200 computers on my network and I need to run once

per month network discovery tool and collect hardware and software details

from computer. Report must include like following: computer name, disk,

memory and CPU characteristics, operating system, and all other settings are

optional...

Please advice what to use for this.

p.s. any Microsoft products, like System Center Essentials maybe or...?

THNX!

You could try this script: http://dieseyer.de/scr-html/hardwareinventur.html

Yes, save it as a .VBS file, then run it in your domain

environment. It's supposed to pick up all connected workstations.

It certainly worked for me when I tested it. I would check

Google for the commercial stuff.

Sorry, I can't - my customised version of the VB Script

meets my needs.

Essentials 2007 sounds like it would meet your needs plus provide you with

additional features as well.

Check out the Essentials 2007 whitepaper at:

You might be interested in trying out the VHD environment. It's a 30 day

full feature trial that you can boot up on a Virtual Server, join you

existing domain and see if it provides you the type of features you are

seeking.

Check out:

Hope that helps,
