Can I make a W2K3 Server a client or workstation

Recommended Posts

Have recently upgraded to SBS 2003 and have a W2K3 Server connected in that

room for remote access. It holds one program. We are through with that

program.

Can I make the W2k3 Server a client workstation and put it online with our

new network?

If Yes.. Is it as simple as with a pc?

If no.. Thanks

You can but why not blow it away and install a Windows client OS? Lots of

software has different rules or license requirements for server versus

client operating system.

Re: Can I make a W2K3 Server a client or workstation

Dave,

Any suggestions. for Windows client OS.. for a Server.. this Workstation is

only going to access the Network and use the Application Server. We have just

outgrown it Speed and size wise, so I thought of making it a client. I mean

why waste it.

With W2K3 can we not access our network and then the application Server?

More suggestions?...Thanks..

Dave's right. If you're going to use this as a regular desktop computer, put

XP Pro on it. Don't try to use W2003. A lot of things won't work. I suggest

you post in microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs for more assistance, as SBS

does a lot of things its own way - your client operating systems have to be

set up properly.
