Hi, and thank you in advance to anyone who is able to help as this is the first time I have used the website [apart from the time 30 seconds ago when I wrote this the first time and then it threw me out when I tried to submit it... :) ]

Problem: XP loads all the usual programmes (security package, Skype etc) when it starts up, but then tries to find a programme I deleted and can't, so it starts up Windows Installer.

Background: My PC has been mis-behaving (slow, freezing, crashing etc) so this morning I deleted a load of old documents, photos, files and programmes; ran virus-scan and scandisk; optimised for performance rather than appearance; deleted the image used on the desktop; disabled browser add-ons; and then re-booted. All was fine.

I then looked at the icons appearing in the system tray and found a programme called Citrix which I have never used and don't need but found that it could not be deleted by Add/Remove Programs. So I had tried Zsoft Uninstaller which usually does the trick but that also failed. I then deleted the folder out of Program Files and removed all the shortcuts before re-booting. That was when The Problem appeared. I then went into Registry and deleted the Citrix folders listed there, but when I re-booted the same thing happened again.

Any suggestions??

(I run XP Pro SP3 on an HP Pavillion with 1GB RAM)

Thanks - still trying

Hi Jelly Bean,

Thank you for your startlingly fast response. That sounded like the perfect solution, but unfortunately Citrix's removal tool can't detect anything to remove. However, it does give me another route to try - a technical support request to Citrix.

Thanks again.
