Jordano Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Alright I think this goes in here as it's more hardware than networking related :) I rebooted my PC about twenty minutes ago and then when I signed back on my wireless adaptor was no longer displayed in network connections and the little wireless image was gone from the system tray & my internet would not work. I tried numerous uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them & also rebooting and it finally started to work, well the internet did anyway. I can now browse the web etc, but my wireless adaptor is still not displayed in network connections or the system tray which makes it sort of hard to change IP etc :/ I'm currently on XP and using http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=179211 adaptor. It isn't the adaptor as i've tried it with my brothers too and I get the same results. Any ideas? :( Thanks all! EDIT: Okay so I was advised to uninstall the wireless hardware from my system and then do a disk check & then reinstall. I did all that, and now i'm back at square one :/ on my brothers PC right now. It acknowledges the hardware is there in some programs but in others it doesn't and it still isn't appearing on my network connections list. Belkin has a standalone program which I don't use but i've turned it on now, it recognises the hardware is there but the system won't accept any connections such as my router, and by accept I mean even show that they're there :/ Quote
danzil Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 have you tried allowing windows to control the wireless card... goto >start>control panel>network connections in there right clikc the card then tick "show icon in notification area when connected"... you should then see the icon in the bottom right hand side of your taskbar..... try setting the connection up manually in windows...some of the software you get with these devices is rubbish.... m\ke sure ssid and encrypion settings are correct, and the key is set as shared or open as to how yours is... regards danzil woooo hooooo 300th post Quote Windows 10 Pro x64Aqua Jeantech Gaming case550watt psu.MSI Gaming Board32GB DDR3 Corsair gaming RamGenuine Intel i7 3.2Ghz4 x 24x dvdrw 150GB SSD750GB Hybrid Drive256 RAID PCI/E SSD for OSand loads of other bits i really dont need :D
