jonsav Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Every time I go to turn off my computer I get a message saying "do not switch off, 1 of 4 updates is taking place and your computer will turn off automatically". However the updates never seem to download even if I leave the computer on all night, and in order to turn off the computer I have to pull the plug out. Firstly, is there any way to make the updates happen, and secondly, is there any way to turn off the computer from the keyboard because when the above message is showing I cannot get to the turn off switch on my desktop. I have Windows XP home. Thank you Quote

jonsav Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 Thank you, I gave that a try but I still get the same message when I shut down. I am just worried that I might be damaging my computer by having to pull out the plug every time I want to shut it down for the night. Any suggestions please? Quote
maynardvdm Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Hi Try going here: Microsoft Windows Update I recommend waiting for the page to load completely before clicking anything.
