Jelly Bean Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I am afraid to say you will have to install these programs yourself. Did the PC guy do a full format of Windows 7 or an upgrade? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Plastic Nev Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Hi, and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help by the way. You appear to have a custom built machine or similar, which has only got the operating system installed. You normally only get the Microsoft works, word, or other parts of Office bundled in when buying a manufactured PC such as a Dell, Toshiba, ETC. If you need those programs, and they definitely have to be the Microsoft versions you will have to buy and install them yourself. However there is an excellent free program that can handle just about every document created originally in those Microsofts Office derivatives. The program is called "Open Office" and is free to download and use for non commercial applications, here- OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite Have a good look round their site, the help and backup for this free product is amazing. Ernieallen Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 I am afraid to say you will have to install these programs yourself. Did the PC guy do a full format of Windows 7 or an upgrade? The new PC was supplied, and the OS installed, by the same people, who claimed that I could transfer all my text & clip art (books written in Win XP) into the new machine. But alas,it wont, and I am reluctant to trust them for any further advice. Sorry for the delay, butAOL say that Win 7 is not compatable to there signals. Quote
Tootech Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Sorry for the delay, butAOL say that Win 7 is not compatable to there signals. I'm afraid you have been told yet another load of rubbish! Windows 7 is perfectly compatible with AOL - see here AOL Broadband and Microsoft Windows 7 - Technical - AOL Help The only problem will be if you still use an old AOL USB broadband modem, something like a Voyager 105. You will need to scrap that and either buy a router or request one from AOL. I'd recommend going to AOL as they can support you in setting it up and problem solving. Quote
