have some Folders on this PC from the old disk structure (The pc has been re-booted once) But im unable to delete them

Ive downloaded ubuntu (linux cd) as i was told ill be able to delete them using this

Problem is, i reboot with the linux cd in, i get the ubuntu menu, i enter use without changing computer but then im stuck on a loading page for agees and nothing happens?!

Is the linux cd faulty or is there another error?

It flickers through a ms dos type screen where i see error squashes or sumthin like that then proceeds to a screen where it says ubuntu with a loading bar then just goes to a blank screen with a little ubuntu circle loading but its stuck on that screen and nothing happens!

5 hours i left it loading for and nothing happened!

Shall i try a different copy of linux?

I certainly dont get a desktop with "live cd session" on it!

I'm not a Linux user so I can't help you. I'm sure someone else will though. It's highly likely that Tootech or one of the others will reply when they have a chance to read.

Sorry I didn't come back to you earlier.

You should change the permissions for the drive to read/write. I am guessing you have the green ball over the drive indicating it is mounted.

Right click over your drive, up to DIR 'sda2', and over to properties (mine is sda2, yours maybe different)

Look at the permissions and tick the Write and Exec boxes for all user groups.

Unmount and remount and you should be able to delete files.
