Guest Victor Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Is it correct for me to say: Windows 2008 group policies will not be recongnized on a Windows XP client because these clients use adm files, not admx regardless of the forest / domain functional level. Can I have a Windows 2003 DC servicing XP clients (adm), and have a Windows 2008 DC servicing Vista (admx) clients within the same domain?
Guest Marcin Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Re: Windows 2008 group policy questions for MSFT Victor, the differences between ADM and ADMX files limit the ways in which GPOs are edited/managed - but not applied. In other words, to edit ADMX-based policies, you need to use Group Policy management tools from a Vista or Windows Server 2008 systems - but settings you configure will apply to any GP-aware versions of Windows as well (assuming, of course, that they are not specific to Vista or Windows Server 2008 only)... hth Marcin
