John64 Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Hi guys its been a while since i have used your brill site. anyway as the title says i have had a BSOD  a couple of times now, i never got the parameters of the last one, but after checking Event Properties i have come to the conclusion they where both the same, heres the error codes below, i hope someone can help me out with the little info i have given. I think it might be something to do with the RAM, my system says i have only 1.50gb installed but i have installed 2x 1gb and 2x 512mb, should there be a certain way they have to be slotted in? i.e 1x 1 GB then 1x 512mb then 1x 1 gb and lastly the 512mb? Anywho, heres the error code. Event Type: Error Event Source: System Error Event Category: (102) Event ID: 1003 Date: 04/11/2009 Time: 20:46:42: Description: Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 f794c3dc, parameter3 a5de2bc0, parameter4 00000000. Thanks again Guys'n'gals :D Quote
Jelly Bean Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Hello there. I can only find at this moment the error points to a faulty hardware driver such as hard drive or a PCI card driver. Does your mainboard support mixed RAM? Try this scanner and tell me what it says it supports as in mixed, speed etc. Memory upgrades from Crucial.com - About Crucial:Media Toolbox In many case RAM can report a smaller amount than what is installed as some of the RAM is dedicated to the GPU. Plastic Nev Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Hi, and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. That error code could be the memory as it is often linked to a hardware fault, (not always though) can you tell us a bit more about the modules you have, are they all the same speed? are they DDR, DDR1 or 2 are they the same make? Have you tried removing them, one at a time, then check what the system says you have? And finally, in some circumstances they may have to be installed in a certain order when different sizes are involved. Let us know as much as possible about them, there are memory checking downloads but lets know what we have to deal with first please. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Jelly Bean Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Ahhhh possibly remove the RAM and place in the smaller gig and slower speed in the slots nearest the CPU then add the 1 gigs after that. Did the scanner say it supported mixed RAM? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
John64 Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 Q: Do I have to install matching pairs? A: Yes. Your system requires that you install memory in pairs. Q: Does my computer support ECC memory? A: Yes. Your system supports ECC. You can put non-ECC modules into an ECC system, but be sure not to mix ECC and non-ECC modules within a system. Install the same type of modules that are already in your system. Thanks for your help guys, i cant do the opening of the PC now even though it is a glass one! as im just off to bed, she's beckoning me, she gets HER way as shes Due to give birth any day now:D i will try to get a look tomoz and post the results, if i have mixed RAM, i shall have to go and get some more to fix the prob, its just that its only just started happening and i have had this RAM in for about 3 years now:eek: i can only think its because i have done a few windows/software upgrades lately and it cant take it. lol i need a new all singing all dancing system. Jelly Bean Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I would stick to the 1 gig sticks. I hope this is not a slot on the mainboard issue. Nothing seems to give you a correct result. A BIOS update may help or even loading defaults in BIOS,have you ever overclocked the system? Have you checked RAM timings in the BIOS? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
