Jelly Bean Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Hello and welcome. Do you mean when you download a file and save it to? Do you use IE or FireFox to download files? Or do you mean you need to move files to D: to free up space on C:? If you need to free up space on C: drive then you can make new folders on D: and drag files over to it the new folder. As an example: Make a folder on D: drive called music. Open your music folder on C: drive under your documents. Highlight all your music files by dragging your mouse across all the files then hold down your mouse and drag and drop them into the new music folder on D: drive. Or right click on the highlighted files and choose copy then paste the files into the new music folder on D: drive. Once all files are transfered to D: check all files have been transfered then you can delete the files from the Music Folder on C: drive hence freeing up space. You can do this for all folders such as pictures and any other documents. You will still be able to veiw documents and play files from D: drive so do not worry. Ok now download and install: CCleaner - Home Now once installed highlight the Cleaner button on the top left/then click analyze button on bottom right/when the analyze has finished click the Run Cleaner button on bottom right. This will clean out any temp files stored on your computer and free up space. You could also delete system restore points that are stored and use up space. How to remove all System Restore points except the most recent one To do this:- Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Click Disc Cleanup Now launch this utility and click More Options tab. Under which click System Restore and followed by that click Clean Up tab a message will popup -Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?Click Yes then OK. Finally another message will popup-Are you sure you want to perform these actions?Click Yes. Now, all the System Restore points except the most recent one are cleaned. As a result there will be more free space in hard disk. Let me know how that goes then I can give you further advice. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
