Donald Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Toshiba Qosmio F20 laptop XPsp2 Symptoms: MS Outlook 2003 and/or Windows Media Player 10 startup all by themselves. This is happens when the machine is left idle for a while. The programmes kick in after about 5 - 10 minutes. After closing the progs down, they will restart after a similar period. On closing them down a couple of times, they seem not to restart again. BUT with similar periods, the machine 'beeps' as if trying to do somthing but can't. I have Norton Security and scanned - no problems reported. I have checked every process in Task Manager with online process websites. Again nothing untoward found. Likewise I have checked each entry in ...windows\current version\run and all seem to be kosher! For the time being, I have switched off the WiFi and do not let the laptop onto internet incase something is 'robbing' data from Outlook or the machine. Any clues on how to stop these 2 progs from randomly starting up? Thanks Quote
