Hi all,

Can any samaritan help. I try booting windows server 2003 with windows

server 2008 RC1 and after reaching the boot.ini menu, the list of the OSs

are displayed, when i select any one of them, the system will not continue

booting and no error message is displayed. The boot order is: Server 2008

RC1 was first installed then followed by Server 2003. is it possible for me

to boot both the two together? if it is; what is it that i ma missing?

Thanks in Advance.

- Where exactly are the two OSs installed?

- What is the contents of c:\boot.ini?

Does server 2008 still boot? Server 2008 and 2003 use different boot

mechanisms.

When you installed Server 2003 it *should* have rewritten the MBR and

dislodged the Server 2008 Boot code and allowed you to boot the

installation but there might have been a glitch. In any case, the

Server 2003 boot manager (ntldr) cannot boot Server 2008, so you will

have to use the newer 2008 boot manager to be able to boot both

installations.
