TS Licensing - practical help

I've taken over a network running Windows 2003 AD, with a Terminal Server.

We now need to move the Terminal Server (built on a PC with Windows 2003

Server installed) onto new hardware.

Unfortunately, there is no documentation available to tell me where the

license server etc are installed....

I know the following:

The TS box is called 'Term-svr', is set up as 'Per User' and has 10 TS

'User' CALs installed.

The licenses were all purchased under a MS Select agreement.

I've opened 'Active Directory Sites and Services' app on one of the DCs and

found that the 'TS-Enterprise-License-Server' entry is listed as Term-svr

(the TS box itself).

I assume this means the TS box is also the TS License Server - correct?

I have set up a new TS box (called App2-svr) and want to move all users and

licenses onto this box.

So I will need to add TS License Server option to App2-svr.

But, how do I go about the licensing?

Can I simply tell AD Sites and Services that the 'Licensing Computer' for

'TS-License-Server' is now App2-svr?

Can I also 'Deactivate' the existing 'Term-svr' in the Terminal Server

Licensing app and add a new one in its place?

Or do I need to contact MS Clearing to reissue licenses?

Has anybody done this before and can point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Jeff.

According to the Terminal Services Team blog, you have to work thru

Microsoft's Clearing house. Based on the steps its looks like this...

Install TS licesning on new box. Contact MS Clearing house to activate it

and get licenses assigned/moved. Change pointer in AD sites and services,

then remove service from old box.
