Remote Desktop connection to 2003 Server drops out through VPN

Connect to 2003 Server through RDC. This is fine within the office, no problem

 

Connection through a VPN the RDP connection drops, can last from a few

seconds, never more than 4-5 mins.

 

VPN through to a desktop on the lan, the RDC is fine. Draytek support have

tried this too, there they have claimed it is not a router problem.

 

Using XPPro SP2 on computers connecting in

 

Connection made from different sites, no difference still loses RDC on server

 

Connection made either through VPN or lan-lan connection (draytek

router-router) same result.

 

The VPN and lan-lan connections do NOT drop when the RDC drops.

 

It the remote computer connects through VPN and maps a drive to the server,

this drops too.

 

There is a screensaver but this is on 60 minutes

 

Anyone any ideas, maybe some setting somewhere? I have installed other

servers on other sites and not had any problem

One question regarding this statement:

 

It the remote computer connects through VPN and maps a drive to the server,

this drops too.

 

 

What exactly is happening here? Are you mapping a drive over VPN and the

drive mapping is lost, or are you using local resources mapping in rdc and

the mapping gets lost when your rdp session is dropped?
