Different file time stamp read in server 2008

Recommended Posts

Server 2008

File Properties:

Created: Saturday, ?January ?12, ?2008, ??5:01:24 PM

The same file in Windows XP has time stamp:

Created: Saturday, January 12, 2008, 5:01:22 PM

Why there is a 2 seconds difference?

The file was created in XP and copied to the Server next day.

It does happen to almost all copied files.

Sometimes there is a difference of 1 second:

Created: Monday, ?January ?28, ?2008, ??3:28:16 PM ===>server

Created: Monday, January 28, 2008, 3:28:15 PM ===>XP

This happens when you use dissimilar file systems,

e.g. NTFS and FAT32. You should use NTFS

everywhere.

Re: Different file time stamp read in server 2008

In fact it is the same computer.

XP is a host system and Server runs in Virtual PC.

I can produce that time difference each time I copy file.

I wonder if it has something to do with the date by itself.

For example file stamped 2002 does not have that difference.

Re: Different file time stamp read in server 2008

I have just noticed something else.

Please see my original post.

The timestamp was copied and pasted directly into message.

Time stamp originated from Server has some question marks, which I do not

see when watching directly file properties.

Where these question marks came from?
