Close open files without Admin permissions

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would like to enable a user to close open files (that do not belong to

him) through Computer Management on a 2000 or 2003 file server WITHOUT making

him a member of the administrators or Server Operators group. Is that

possible and what would the minimum rights be that would have to be granted?

Thanks for any help!

Harry

Hello HarryH,

Just to understand. Why should a user be able to di this? Open files that

are in work by the users are not saved and if you will close it remotely,

they will use maybe there complete work.

Best regards

Re: Close open files without Admin permissions

Hello Meinolf,

you can see it as a way to delegate control. There are certain database

files on the server which sometimes get "stuck". The person responsible for

the database should be able to close the open files but I do not want to make

him an administrator or sever operator / power user. So in essence I am

looking for the least amount of permissions needed for this task.

Regards
