GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 hey guys, thanks for the help once again. I've just finished memtest, all tests are in the clear, everything was fine there. I've just tidied all the cables up with pc cable tidiers, had them on my old psu also so no cables are touching anything just themselfs so to speak, the new psu cables also come with some material black coating thats ment to stop any interferance, as far as the fans, they seem to be running at the same speed, checked that with speedfan just a minute ago, also monitored it when ingame ofc. Alongwith..windows diagnostic came back with no errors. Only problem reports i had was with a few applications and whatnot not working, nothing Nvidia or Display orientated. Pc's DPI is set to - Scale to this percentage of normal size 100% ( default ) 9 point Segoe UI at 96 Pixels per inch ( default ) Use windows xp style DPI scaling is checked,( default ) About 2 revert back to default BIOS settings, will let you know of that result. Jelly Bean Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Well all checks appear clear. I am with Tootech on the BIOS reset back to default. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Ok just reset it etc, launched a game, and the same issue, this is beyond confusing lol. Quote
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 I've also moved the card to PCI-E 2.0 slot 2, and still the same, Im now testing another VGA cable, after that im going to once again try another 2 DVI adapters. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Darn,I have pritty much run out of ideas now,I did chat with Tootech via PM on what he thought and thats all we could come up with. Hopefully someone else can input soon. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Ok back lol! No luck with changing cables, or changing DVI adapters, tried both cables VGA to VGA, and VGA to DVI + adapter, i believe we have our selfs a predicament. Thanks once again for all your input :) Quote
Jelly Bean Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Ohhh boy. Ok do you have a seprate sound card installed or any other PCI cards? Removal of these cards and test may root out an issue. Place one it at a time if the computer is fine without them in.And see if the problem then occurs. I think we are now down to testing hardware that could be the possible cause. GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 I did have a USB extension PCI card, but i removed that upon putting the new PSU in as i never used it, have 4 usb's at front and 4 at the back, I have only onboard 5.1 HD sound wich is onboard the motherboard, other than that USB Pci card i had wich is no longer in there, theres nothing. :( Quote
Jelly Bean Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Ok just had a thought. When your playing the games leave the side off the computer and check all fans are spinning freely. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Sorry Jelly :( tried that aswell lol! as i was making sure the temp's wer definatly cool theres no obstructions or fans not spinning properly at all, looking at it right now as we speak, all fans have open area around them, as the cable tidy things are keeping everything away from em :) Quote
Jelly Bean Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I use cable ties,50p from B&Q for about 100 or maybe 200. I need a think. Everything is checking out so we is all scratching our heads. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 yea i believe its 200, as i get mine from BnQ Quote
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 ok i have some news, it took the pc downstairs and plugged in the hitachi HD tv. I used the HDMI cable, in 1080p. No problems, no weird lines at-all. Now there is nothing wrong with my actual monitor, its fairly new worked perfect with the old graphics card etc, do you guys think its possible tho that the graphics card is maybe too powerfull for the monitor, or could it have something to do with the VGA cable? for example, i take the vga cable and convert it to DVI and use DVI, or i can use just VGA if i wish, my thoughts are possibly, this cable does not hold enough bandwith to transmit the frequency's for gaming possibly threw a VGA cable? Thats my thought, interested to hear you guys response, as im puzzled by what to do in regards as next steps. Quote
Tootech Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Your monitor native resolution is 1440 x 900 factory-set resolution Taken from the HP website What resolution are you running at, both in and out of games? Quote
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 exactly that m8 1440 x 900 at all times, ingame and out of game, the monitor actually forces 1440 x 900 if the game doesnt support it. Do u have any idea if you could take a VGA to HDMI cable for the monitor and have it work that way? Like the following cable? GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 From researching it, it looks like you can use DVI to HDMI, but not VGA to HDMI, due to the types of signals, only way to do that is spend like 150+ quid to buy some stupid box that does it all for you, when you could put that towards an HDTV¬monitor. THis here be an issue, as i aint got the cash lying about to blast on a HDTV for the pc, if you guys have any more info or help its much appreciated :) Quote
Tootech Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Hmmmm...... You know it could be a mismatch of the refresh rate - can you check what your card is throwing out to the monitor - it should be 60Hz, any different and you could well get odd effects or monitor cut out. Here's the HP troubleshooting page Using and Adjusting Your Monitor HP w1907 19 inch LCD Monitor - HP Customer Care (United States - English) I noticed it says that you should only use Auto Adjustment with VGA connectors. I'd stick with DVI to DVI if I were you btw. Quote
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Hi buddy, cheers for the reply, My monitor under screen res - advanced shows at 60hz Gfx card under the Nvidia control panel is showing at 60hz Neither can be changed, just the 1 setting showing for the monitor and the graphics version settings. I've tried the auto adjustment with VGA to VGA and it just did the same as the VGA to DVI with adapter, so that seems to be ok. I would go DVI to DVI, but unfortunatly the monitor only has a VGA block on it with a VGA cable input and output, but i use a DVI converter that came with Gfx card to connect 2 the pc, doesnt really seem any better than VGA, i've just always used it. Tootech Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I'm afraid I'm getting out of my depth on this one - I tend to agree that if it works on HDMI then it must be something to do with the VGA/DVI system. It may be that the electronics that converts DVI to VGA is messing with the signals. If it was mine I would try to borrow a DVI monitor and see how things are - that would give you an indication as to whether or not the VGA is somehow causing the problem. Quote
GreyCell1988 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Cool i will try to get my hands on a DVI monitor, sum1 i know close must have one lol. If i just had a spare bloody HDTV lmao, god damn computers ^.^ Quote
