Windows Share Access Issue

Hi,

I have a folder shared on a server that gives DOMAIN\GroupA "Full

Control". Nine members of GroupA have no problem accessing the share,

but one member keeps getting Access Denied. I've double-checked group

membership, everything things to be in order. If this user logs in at

a *different* computer and tries to connect to the share, they are

successful. So, it seems that there's something local to their

computer that's causing the issue...but I don't have a clue what it

could be. Unfortunately, a restart did not resolve the issue. Any

ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

Does the user perhaps have a local account on the other computer with the

same name?

Nope... And besides, the same user is able to access the share if

they do so from another computer. Thus, I don't think the problem is

tied to the username. There's got to be something on the local

computer preventing it, or perhaps something on the local computer

preventing the PDC from sending the credentials back properly? Like I

said...I have no idea...

Re: Windows Share Access Issue

The reason I asked is because they could be logging in unbeknown to them

with a local account on one machine and a domain account on another. But if

you are sure they don't have a local account then that would not be the

case.

Getting access denied from one computer but not another:

- could be local policy that requires digitally sign communications (in

Local Policies, Security Options on the server or client)

- cached credentials, solved by logging off and removing anything mapped as

a different user

- turn on file auditing on the target server and see if you get more clues

from the log

- in extremis, rejoin the domain

Also, do you have any errors in the Event Log of the machine that gives the

error?
