Roaming Profile Users randomly going off-line

Hello,

Thank you at front for reading my post. Here is the scoop:

File Server running Windows 2003 R2 64-bit. with 2 x dual Gig Nics. Three

of the NICs are bridged. Switch is Dell PowerConnect 24-Port Gig.

Clients are all WinXP Pro. Users are configured with roaming profiles.

Problem: Random users at random times get a notification that they are

working "Off line". They do not lose connectivity to the exchange, ISA or

SQL server and only profile-related files show that need to synchronize.

Any ideas will be VERY appreciated.

Thank you,

Oscar P.

I would break it all down so there is only one enabled NIC and then see what

happens,

Check the event logs - but I'd also question the need for offline files on a

LAN-connected computer in the first place. Using roaming profiles + folder

redirection doesn't mean you have to also use offline files....

If you have a single server (your DC & file/SQL box) I definitely recommend

you reconfigure the network settings so it has only one NIC. Multihomed DCs

are bad news.
