Hello, i have internet explorer 6,and firefox, i always use firefox to open my webpages etc, but now there is something wrong with internet explorer whenever i try to open a site it types

as a result i cant open windows live messenger!,my operating system is windows xp home edition sp2, acer intel,i use norton internet security 2007 and i have ie6 and the above happened and now i installed ie7 and nothing change the same thing keeps opening again, hope you could answer me as soon as possible thank you.

bizare...looks like it is opening ftp not http...

mmmm do you have any ftp server or client software installed.

do you have the xp cd......

try this if all fails. start.run..... rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf

you will be prompted for the cd.
