Guest Saqib Ali Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 We ran some 3rd party script on our computers and it deleted the following Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters \DNSRegisteredAdapters Now our windows XP machine don't register with DNS anymore. Is there a way to recreate this key on the affected computers?
Guest Colin Barnhorst Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Re: DNSRegisteredAdapters got deleted How about using system restore to a time just before the script ran? Then export the key before you run the script again so you can import it afterwards. Guest Saqib Ali Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Re: DNSRegisteredAdapters got deleted Thanks. But system restore is not an option for us, as there are just too many computers, and we really don't know when the script was actually ran on the computers. :-( On Feb 13, 8:03 pm, "Colin Barnhorst" <c.barnho...@comcast.net> wrote: > How about using system restore to a time just before the script ran? Guest junior Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Re: DNSRegisteredAdapters got deleted netsh interface reset all Note that this is not the most effective repair. For more effective results, try WinsockFix, which you can find on several sites, including: * http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257 * http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml * http://www.subratam.org/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=41 "Saqib Ali" <docbook.xml@gmail.com> wrote in message news:28c1875b-9a7d-4a85-bc90-45024605c2ab@m34g2000hsb.googlegroups.com... > On Feb 14, 4:34 am, "junior" <ab...@antispam.org> wrote: >> Start, run, cmd >> netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt > > we already tried that. doesn't re-create the reg keys :-( >
