Windows 2003 login scripts are empty

Hi whoever reads this,

I am a system administrator of a network of 30+ Windows 2003 servers wich I

manage together with my other colleagues.

Occasionally we have this problem that loginscripts suddenly stop working.

When I check the \\localhost\netlogon share I find that several login scripts

are 0KB and when I open them they turn out to be empty. This happens every

once in a while and to several (changed) login scripts.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem before or know what to do about it.

It's a really annoying problem and neither me or my colleagues knows why.

We have the same problem with GPO's so it would seem to be a replication

problem.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Well, as you have other admins I'd say someone is doing it intentionally

(probably).

Why don't you try decreasing the # of admins for some time (let you be the

only one) and see if that stops just to make sure?

Hello Callypso,

If you think about replication problems run dcdiag /v and netdiag /v and

replmon to check for errors.

Re: Windows 2003 login scripts are empty

I've run dcdiag and netdiag which both passed all tests without any problems.

replmon did came back with a few errors, which will be looked into, but

unfortunately the errors with which it came back were not related to any of

the servers on which I had the problem, so I don't think this is responsible

for the login script problem.

any other idea's I can test/check?

Hello Callypso,

Did you check the event viewer for errors? Please post them here. Also the

replication errors.
