Erro in XP: Windows could not start

Hi All,

 

I have a laptop that it will not boot the message that I am getting is this

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYTEM" Any advice on what to do to get to boot?

Put this string into a Google search box:

It will give you some 36,000 hits.

Have you tried to boot it into Safe Mode. If that doesn't work, you may have

to reinstall the system over itself to restore lost files. It looks like

some files were either missing or corrupted.

 

Did you do any updates or change the system in any way?

I think I would try a repair install first if the OP has an XP cd. If not,

then you're probably right.

Sorry about that, you are right, I meant to do a repair first and if that

didn't work, install the system on top of itself.
