kevh Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Hi Just got round to installing Win 7 from vista , all gone very well apart from one thing . I backed up everything i could think of which wasnt needed for a lot of files as even though it was a clean /custom install it saved certain files and also created windows.old file with a lot of stuff in. The windows live mail ( which i really really dont like now!!) let me export messages and accounts in vista but now in win7 i find that all that has been saved is the folders  Just wondering if there is another way of getting back my old mail from maybe windows.old file or from other settings files or are they gone for good?? Not sure what file extension i should be looking for for WLM Any help would be greatly appreciated. Plastic Nev Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Hi Kev, good to see you back, Windows 7 being still so new there seems to be quite a few odd issues with the upgrade, so you aren't on your own. However I can only suggest looking in, or doing a search of, the windows old. files. look for any reference to Windows Live, but also any mail titles, as it may have saved just the mail with each of the mails title only. Not yet got familiar with W7 myself, and still running XP, so hopefully someone else may know of other file titles to look for. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems?
