Windows Logon Error

Some of my Dell computers have been getting this message lately. I have

noticed it started about 1.5 to 2 weeks ago. I am running Win XP Pro SP2 on

all of these machines:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}

The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a

status of 0xc000005

The system has been shutdown.

Once I shut the computer down and restart it, this error doesn't come up for

quite a few hours but it eventually comes up again.

Nothing has changed on any of these systems and even when I have updated

them (via Windows Updater), the problem hasn't been solved. I have looked up

the documentation but it seems to be lacking for this error and the only

thing remotely spoken about is that the video drivers are corrupt.

I don't believe this since these computers have run the past three years

without incident so now I am asking if there was a mandatory windows update

that happened that may have corrupted the winlogin process.

Thanks for your time,

Kevin

RE: Windows Logon Error

The error number changed. It is now 0x00000502. The information you

provided did not help because none of the machines are running IE6.x. We are

also not running Roxio Go-Back. Will attempt to look in other places and use

that MS KB article to set an error trap.

RE: Windows Logon Error

Hi

I have exactly the same problem.

I was about to re-instal Windows but if this is a common feature of some

Dells I am concerned it will just happen again.

Running in safe mode it stops after something like the MUP driver is loaded?

Most of my immediate famiy have Dell laptops and desktops so this worries me!

Hope someone can help further.
