Yesterday, I was presented with an update for Apples Quick time, OK I don't use it much except for MIDI file downloads, but took on board the update as there is a security issue resolved within it.

I also was presented with the option to download and install their browser Safari, so having heard a little about it decided to give it a try.

Initial feelings are that it is quite different in operation from Firefox or Internet Exploder, sorry Explorer, so what are the views of others that may have experimented with and tried Safari?

Do you like it or hate it?

Nev.

I Like it Nev.

I think browsers are going that way, multiple panes and tabs.

Opera is similar, and very quick - that's my browser of choice at the moment.

Internet Explorer I'm afraid is at the bottom of the pile and is reserved for the odd page that doesn't render correctly in Opera.

Well as an update, I am not that impressed, I prefer Firefox and all that it offers. I will keep it on for now in case there should ever be a need for it, but somehow I feel Revo will have a job to do at some point.

I’m using safari 5 which is the latest version of safari. Safari 5 includes improved developer tools and supports more than a dozen new HTML5 technologies, focused on interoperability. With Safari 5, developers can now create secure Safari Extensions to customize and enhance the browsing experience.

i'VE USED SAFARI BRIEFLY MUCH BETTER IF YOU HAVE A MAC I USE A PC AND I WOULD USE GOOGLE CHROME A LOT MUCH FASTER THAN FIREFOX TBH

It's been ages since I tried Safari. A minor point but I thought the appearance of it was a bit drab. It didn't have any extensions that could be added at that time either. This made it not as good as Firefox for me. However, I notice that's changed now and it might be able to compete. It uses the Webkit engine, so I'd think it would be as fast as Chrome (or other Chromium-based browser) as regards quick start-up and browsing speed.

There are a lot of good browsers about these days, any of which could be settled for. Nice that we have such a wide choice. Add 'Simple Adblock' and a spell-checker to Internet Explorer 9 and even that is pretty good now in my opinion. It's also possible to add tracking protection lists (TPL) to it.
