arcola Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 My question concerns my son's PC. it is a Bali with windows XP PRO ,celeron processor 553 mhz. He apparently was playing around with "system 32" and changed a setting- he does not recall which. The computer ran normally until he turned it off. Now when starting up it - shows the windowsxp logo-then welcome-then the desktop picture - then welcome ,with user icon. when icon is clicked on- it shows loading your personal settings, then the desktop for a second, then -logging off saving your settings, and at lower left- an icon with turn off computer. There are never any icons for start etc. I have tried a couple of things friends suggested but to no avail. any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks Quote
maynardvdm Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hi Try booting into safe mode and do a system restore to a date before he made the changes. muppet rebecca Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 You've tried a couple of things your friends have suggested I think I've read which I'm now going to ask would be what. I don't mean to offend but explaining exactly what you've done gives people a more information into solving what the problem is. Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Thanks but actually I have tried that -safe mode - but nothing changes. You said that you have tried safemode, but are there any other users that have an account on the PC, if not then you should still be able to access the Admininstator account and do a system restore from there. When it shows his name to log on it should also show the administrator account too Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
