Generic driver for Dell 725

I've solved a whole bunch of printer compatibility issues, but this one

has me stumped. Has anyone found a matching driver that will work?

Dell Printers are OEMed from Lexmark, so that would be the place to look.

You could also purchase a Universal Printer Driver like our Print-IT, or ones

from ThinPrint, UniPrint or triCerat so you could support all client printers

w/o installing drivers on the TS.

Re: Generic driver for Dell 725

Thanks, Patrick.

What I've learned is that this Dell printer and many low-end HPs do not

support either PCL or Postscript. They compose the page in computer

memory, compress it, and send it to the printer. Therefore, they cannot

be supported directly by terminal services. Possibly a universal printer

driver would do it, but it is not an affordable solution for these very

small installations with 5-10 users that I am supporting. If I had a lot

of users, you can bet I'd take this route. What a PITA.

I now know to investigate any potential user printer for standard

printer language support, so long as the users ask before jumping :).

Lexmark, for example, has a low-end laser printer for $150 that has PCL

and states explicitly that it works with TS.
